Dynamic Urban Planning

A Universidad Francisco Marroquín, em Guatemala, provavelmente é a universidade mais liberal da América Latina. Mais incrível ainda é que eles tem uma Faculdade de Arquitetura, que pela revista publicada por ela parece produzir alunos com projetos bastante competentes através de soluções realmente atuais, algo que não se vê em praticamente nenhuma universidade brasileira na área.

O que me impressionou ainda mais foi a participação do arquiteto e urbanista espanhol Gonzalo Melián como professor convidado da escola, ministrando o Dynamic Urban Planning Workshop, que busca resolver problemas urbanos através de soluções menos autoritárias e subjetivas e mais espontâneas e livres.

O conceito usado é de que a cidade funciona melhor sob regras de ordem espontânea, ou "emergência", termo usado pelo Nobel em economia Friedrich Hayek.

Universidad Francisco Marroquín, in Guatemala, is probably the most libertarian University in Latin America. The most facinating about it is that they have a Architecture School, which by looking at the magazine published by it seems to have very competent students using very cutting edge solutions, something unseen in brazilian schools in the same area.

What impressed me the most was the participation of the spanish architect and urbanist as a visiting professor ministering the Dynamic Urban Planning Workshop, which seeks to solve urban problems through less authoritarian and subjective and more dynamic and free solutions.

The concept used it that the city works better under rules of spontaneous order, or "emergent", word used by Nobel-prize winning economist Friedrich Hayek.

Watch the videos produced by the students by the end of the workshop, it is a really impressive work in which I would have enjoyed being part of during my student life.
